"As the Regional Director for Romania, attending the Document Interoperability Initiative event in London helped me tremendously to broaden my vision over the issue of document interoperability. As a result of the London event, I am committed towards introducing the audience in this part of the world to the issue of document interoperability and raise the awareness on the related issues."
"Microsoft's transparency in documenting the details of how Office has implemented ODF and Open XML helps all implementers improve interoperability with Office.  We look forward to continuing to work with them on improving the interoperability of our products, and we encourage other implementers to participate as well."

Representatives from KANOi, Wooam, ECO and Tomotec discussed interoperability between DAISY, an XML-based document format for accessibility, and OpenXML. Participants tested demonstrations of how ODF translation tools currently available through SourceForge.net can be used in both centralized and distributed workflows. The team at Tomotec has launched an open source project working with the beta Open XML to DAISY translator for their DAISY reader product, and has committed to helping test future versions and actively participating in an Source Forge project, which demonstrates how ODF translation tools can be used in both centralized and distributed workflows. Feedback from this event also led Microsoft to develop PowerTools PowerShell commands for Open XML to enable IT administrators to perform document management tasks; more information can be found at http://www.codeplex.com/PowerTools.
